Tuesday Magazine is proud to be the official media partner of MIHNUET. It is because of our genuine interest in student art—not just producing it, but also encouraging it—that this organic partnership became a reality. Since the amazing work that MIHNUET does is off-campus, we felt that being their media partner would bridge the gap between doing good for the community and inspiring other students to follow suit. Thus, we have formed this partnership in order to highlight how music and volunteerism can be successfully intertwined to brighten the days of those in need of a smile.
Harvard-Radcliffe MIHNUET (Music In Hospitals and Nursing Homes Using Entertainment as Therapy) is a volunteer organization that performs live music for patients and residents in Boston-area hospitals and nursing homes twice a week. Founded in 1995, MIHNUET is the largest organization in Harvard's Public Service Network. Within MIHNUET, the Crimson Crooners are a vocal ensemble that performs weekly, and it is the only volunteer vocal group on the Harvard campus. MIHNUET also continues its mission during summer recess through Summer MIHNUET, an essentially full-time program that holds performances for hospitals and nursing homes daily. MIHNUET's Executive Board consists of eleven Harvard undergraduates and its current Presidents are Helen Cho '10 and Christopher Lim '10.
MIHNUET welcomes volunteers of all musical backgrounds! Its members include beginners and amateurs as well as musicians from Harvard's most elite performance groups, including the Holden Choruses, Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, and the University Choir!
