Metamorphoses

This fall, Mary Zimmerman's brilliant adaptation of Ovid's Metamorphoses comes to Harvard University, uniting the best and brightest of Harvard with the best of the Boston theater community. Taking place at the Loeb Drama Center, home of the American Repertory Theater, Metamorphoses will be designed, performed, and produced by some of Harvard's brightest students. Spearheading the production is director Carmel O'Reilly, a well-known Boston theater figure in her own right, and winner of multiple Eliot Norton awards. Together, they will tell the story of Midas, Orpheus, Psyche and other classic characters as they struggle through their separate trials in this theatrical celebration of human mistakes and desire. Set around a 20-foot pool of water in the center of the stage, Metamorphoses seamlessly blends modern language with ancient tales, told through movement, music, poetry, and prose. The production will run October 19th through 27th in the American Repertory Theater's Loeb Drama Center, with a talkback session with Carmel O'Reilly and the cast after one of the evening performances.
